French FM Alain Juppe said in Paris that France supports the granting of candidate status to Serbia for membership in the EU.

French FM Alain Juppe said in Paris that France supports the granting of candidate status to Serbia for membership in the EU. France is also devoted to strategic partnership between the two countries, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a release. Serbian FM meets with French counterpart Juppe welcomed Serbia's progress on the path of European integration and confirmed that France supports the granting of candidate status to Serbia for membership in the EU. He also pointed to the "necessity of normalization of relations with Kosovo and to the urgent need to renew dialogue with Pristina, mediated by the EU, and in expectation of the European Council session in December". This meeting also reaffirmed France's commitment to the strategic partnership between the two countries concluded in April last year, and its concrete application, especially when it comes to the project of subway construction in Belgrade, the French Ministry said.
