The Parliamentary Administrative Committee has allowed three former SRS officials who left to join the SNS to keep their parliamentary mandates. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) argued that since the three officials had been elected to parliament as members of their party, their mandates should be returned to the SRS, as the three have since joined former Radical deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic's Serb Progressive Party (SNS). SNS MPs to retain mandates The dispute and the SRS’s insistence on holding a meeting of the Administrative Council to discuss this issue has been the main reason why parliament’s work has been at a virtual standstill in recent months. SRS, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) officials voted to have the mandates returned to the SRS, Nikolic voted against, while the majority of ruling coalition members abstained. The three MPs in question who defected from the SRS are Igor Becic, Veroljub Arsic and Jelena Budmirovic.
