Dragan Micunovic says that public support for President Boris Tadic in Serbia is stronger than ever. He said that support for Tadic would not decline even if the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) was not signed with the EU at the end of the month. DS official: Public support for Tadic unwavering Micunovic, one of the senior officials in Tadic’s Democratic Party (DS), said that if Serbia was called on to sign the agreement, it needed to do so, stating that “this is no longer a game, but a very serious national task.” “A postponement is possible, but would not be good. I think that it should be completed as soon as possible, so that we can begin economic rehabilitation and regain stability,” Micunovic told B92. “In any case, not signing the agreement will not hurt (Tadic). He has strong arguments and I believe that the citizens will understand,” Micunovic said. He added that any eventual postponement would be temporary and would not mean that Serbia was giving up on its European prospects. Micunovic said that he believed that in the likely event of a second round run-off for the presidency between Tadic and Serb Radical Party candidate Tomislav Nikolic, the Democratic Party of Serbia and Liberal Democratic Party would support the incumbent president.
