KRA Workers of the transport company Autosaobracaj spent the night on buses they used to block the main road and railway line connecting Kragujevac and Kraljevo. The workers of the Kragujevac-based company said that they will not give up their protest until their demands are met. On Tuesday, they demanded First Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the SNS Aleksandar Vucic to speak with them. Road transportation has been slowed down as drivers are forced to use alternative routes to get past the roadblock and the railway transportation had to stop completely, preventing a train carrying a number of Fiat cars produced in the Kragujevac-based Fiat factory and intended for exports from reaching the Adriatic Port of Bar. Autosaobracaj has been in financial trouble for years and managers have changed turns often but all failed to put the firm, which is over RSD 650 million in debt, back on its feet. More than a decade ago years ago, the employees in the company gave more than 60 percent of the shares to the then director, who was later arrested for fraud, and now they blame all directors who have managed the firm’s business over the past ten years for Autosaobracaj’s ruin. They also say the local government is partly to blame, but it denies the accusations claiming that it does not owe the firm a penny.
