Djuric: Rosu units arrest 15 Serbs on Mountain Brezovica

Kosovo special police units on Wednesday arrested 15 Serbs on Mt. Brezovica, southern Kosovo-Metohija, the head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric said on Wednesday, announcing that he will request that an urgent government session be called in the wake of the incident.

In the morning, shortly after 10 a.m., a unit of the Kosovo Rosu police that was armed to the teeth stormed the Sara national park on Mt. Brezovica, arresting all workers it found there, Djuric said at an extraordinary press conference in Brussels.

Djuric said that the Kosovo special police arrested 15 workers and their director and that they are currently in detention in Urosevac.

This is a brutal attack on the fundamental rights of the Kosovo Serbs, Djuric said, adding that all that has been agreed in the Brussels dialogue has now been trampled underfoot and that it is a provocation directed at all of Serbia.

The move is tied with Kosovo's efforts to join UNESCO and this is an attempt at imposing on Serbia a forced acceptance of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, Djuric said.

He said that he will request from Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic that an urgent session of the Serbian government be called.

Serbia must not and will not remain silent in the face of attempts at taking its cultural heritage away from it and the trampling underfoot of the fundamental rights of our people in Kosovo-Metohija, Djuric said, adding that the has also conveyed Belgrade's dissatisfaction to EU officials
