Charlie Hebdo reveals front page of new issue

The cartoon, delivered to AFP, is signed by Luz, one of the survivors of the terrorist attack against the magazine last Wednesday that claimed the lives of 12 people.

The new edition, put together by the "survivors", will be printed in three million copies instead the usual 60,000, and sold in 25 countries.

Lawyer and spokesman for Charlie Hebdo Richard Malka recalled that the magazine has been publishing cartoons depicting Muhammad "and other dignitaries of all religions" for a number of years, and that it would be "surprising" if the new issue did not show the Islamic prophet.

The Kouachi brothers who perpetrated the massacre were heard shouting after the attack that they had "revenged Prophet Muhammad."

Charlie Hebdo in the past repeatedly published satirical cartoons of the Islamic prophet, causing great anger and protests in some Muslim countries. Because of the threats received from radical Muslims the magazine has been under police protection since 2006.
