The result is unprecedented and the European Commission (EC) will debate it at one of its meetings. 80% of Germans against EU enlargement, poll shows This is an important piece of information for Serbia, bearing in mind that German MPs will ahead of the elections have to convince the public that there is a need to grant Serbia a date for the beginning of the EU accession negotiations. Such approach requires significant political courage of Bundestag members that are hoping to be reelected. The EC will submit a report on Serbia’s progress in the EU integration process on April 16 and the European Council should make a decision on a date for the start of the EU accession talks on June 28.
