50th Guča Festival kicks off

The 50th annual Dragačevo Trumpet Festival begins in in the town of Guča today, in central Serbia.

The 50th annual Dragacevo Trumpet Festival begins in in the town of Guca today, in central Serbia. 2,000 musicians, including 400 foreign bands, will take part in the festival's program that will last until August 22. 50th Guca Festival kicks off Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic opened the festival. "Guca is today the center of the world, and the festival is one of Serbia's greatest and leading brands. That is why the government supports this unique manifestation, which has been enduring and developing for half a century now," Mrkonjic said while congratulating the festival's 50th anniversary to the organizers and hosts. At the entrance to Guca, a monument was unveiled to Desimir Perisic, a local farmer and the winner of the first festival held in October 14, 1961. After that, the organizers officially opened the Museum of the Trumpet, as a testimony to the life and customs of the people from Dragacevo and the festival.

Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjić opened the festival.

That is why the government supports this unique manifestation, which has been enduring and developing for half a century now," Mrkonjić said while congratulating the festival's 50th anniversary to the organizers and hosts.
