Bor Serbia's most polluted location

Minister for Environmental and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said on Monday that Bor is presently the most polluted municipality in Serbia. This relates to the eastern Serbian town and its surroundings' water, air and soil quality. Bor Serbia's most polluted location Dulic addressed a session of parliament's Committee for Environmental Protection to present a report for 2007. The ministry will continue with strict control of the biggest polluters in Serbia, Dulic added. In addition to Bor, which is home to copper mines and smelters, other locations singled out are Pancevo and the Great Canal of Backa, Dulic specified. Most environmental accidents in 2007 occurred in industrialized areas, Dulic said. The problem of waste is a crucial issue, he added, and said one of his ministry's most important projects for the year 2009 is to build a plant for depositing of hazardous waste.
