About 150 reservists from Kursumlija blocked the local municipal court entrance for several hours today, before leaving without incident. They blocked this particular court as it was the one that had passed rulings on the rights to receive wages for service in the Kosovo war in 1999. Reservists block court Strike leader Dejan Milosevic told Tanjug that they have received a copy of a document, seen by Tanjug, in which the Defense Ministry states that “RSD 73,607 (EUR 956) plus interest is to be paid to Dragan Milosevic from Kursumlija starting from November 6, 2006 until the amount has been paid out in full.” The document states that the decision was taken on the basis of a first-instance ruling at the Kursumlija Municipal Court on April 2, 2007. Milosevic said that the final total, with all the interest included, would come to over RSD 1mn. He said that the decision had infuriated the reservists, who have been protesting for the last three months over wages they claim they are owed dating back to the Kosovo conflict. The strike leader said that “this document proves just how legitimate our demands are, and that is why the protests will have to continue.’ The reservists are also collecting signatures to replace Kursumlija Municipal President Milan Djurdjevic. Milosevic said that all the illegal financial dealings were a result of people within local government “working between the courts and the municipality,” adding that “a blind eyes is being turned to these actions because members of the Democratic Party of Serbia and Democratic Party are involved.”
