RS president wins defamation case against TV station

BANJA LUKA Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik has won a case against the Radio Television of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (RTVFBiH). Dodik sued RTVBiH for defamation and harming his personal reputation in one of its programs. RS president wins defamation case against TV station The Municipal Court in Banja Luka has ordered RTVBiH and three of its journalists to pay BAM 5,000 to Dodik for slander and damaging his reputation in the show that was aired on May 19, 2008. This is the eighth suit that Dodik won against the TV station for statements made in the same program. The RS president’s lawyer Miroslav Mikes told Srna news agency that the court had delivered eight verdicts in the case, adding that RTVBiH had filed appeals to some of them. “Each ’60 minutes’ show was a separate lawsuit. All of them were filed in 2008, which is a clear proof that then prime minister and now RS President Milorad Dodik has not influenced the court in any way because his suits are finished five years after they were filed,” he stressed.
