Russia's Gazprom is looking at possibilities of including Romania in the route of its South Stream natural gas pipeline. According to reports, the oil and gas giant signed an agreement with Romania’s Transgaz in order to study the possible construction through the country. Gazprom looks to include Romania in S. Stream Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, who was in Bucharest, was quoted by Bloomberg on Wednesday: “We’re talking about optimizing the route. If we’re talking about concrete routes, they will only be discussed after the study is done.” According to this, Miller said that Gazprom is moving to the next stage of analysis after completing a feasibility study for the link. The pipeline could carry 63 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Europe. Serbia is among the countries that will participate in the project.
