Fourth attempt fails to set up new Kosovo Assembly

The oldest deputy, Adem Mikulovci, who is presiding over the constitutive session, first called a 15-minute break, and then ended the meeting and announced he would schedule a new one in writing.

The PDK-led coalition, which won the most votes on June 11 but is unable to form a government alone, is boycotting the sessions as it believes Mikulovci has been scheduling them "outside the established practice, without previous agreement with representatives of all parliamentary groups."

This coalition also thinks that Mikulovci is representing only the interests of his party, the Self-Determination.

Monday's was the fourth attempt to continue the first session of the new Assembly, that started on August 3, and elect its president and five deputy presidents.

Tanjug is reporting that "some media" are interpreting the situation as "the big coalition being unable to secure a 61-member majority in the 120-seat parliament."
