PM confirms he'll travel to Germany next month

"It is more important that she said that when the floods are over, and when people talk about them less, Germany would not leave Serbia alone and without help and support. I expressed the gratitude of Serbia to her," Vučić informed the meeting.

The German chancellor also offered her condolences to the country and the people, he stated. So far, it has been confirmed that 33 people died during the natural disaster.

Vučić also noted today that Deutsche Bank will not charge transfer fees for special purpose accounts, and added that this was "important for the help to our country."

Announcing the decision made later in the day by the government to lift the nation-wide state of emergency, Vučić said this did not mean that all risks and dangers were behind us.

He thanked everyone in attendance of the meeting for their "tremendous effort and commitment," and also to the citizens and everyone who helped. "We have shown that we are a country that can function responsibly and deal with the most difficult challenges," according to Vučić.

The prime minister added that his cabinet would prepare a report detailing what was done during the crisis and in what manner, and present it to deputies in the Serbian parliament.

During the government session later in the day, he confirmed that he would go to Berlin on June 11 on Merkel's invitation, and remarked that this would be the first visit of a Serbian prime minister on the invitation of a German chancellor since Zoran Đinđić.

"It is a great honor and obligation, so I am asking you to prepare all that our side can prepare from each of your sectors and departments," he told the cabinet.
