WASHINGTON Serbia’s First Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic will continue his visit to the U.S. on Saturday with a visit to the Ohio National Guard headquarters. Ohio National Guard and Serbian Army (VS) have had a successful cooperation for years. Ohio National Guard Commander Major General Deborah Ashenhurst visited Belgrade last summer and invited Vucic to visit Ohio and learn about capacities and abilities of the Guard. He requested that the NATO-led KFOR remain in the territory of Kosovo because they represented an additional security for Serbs. During his meetings with Panetta, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Deputy Director David Shedd and National Guard Bureau Chief Frank Grass Vucic discussed bilateral, intelligence and military cooperation between Serbia and the U.S. Vucic also met with Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Neven Mimica on Friday. “In the light of events in the Croat-Serbian relations, they noted difference in opinions about the recent past,” reads a release of the Croatian government. The Serbian deputy PM met with U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta at the Pentagon on Friday.
