Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Dragan Djilas has qualified as disgraceful the government's decision to approve USD 7mn for Vuk Jeremic’s office in New York. The Serbian government approved USD 7mn for the financing of Jeremic’s office during his presidency over the UN General Assembly in New York. "Cost of Jeremic's UN office cost is disgraceful" Djilas urged the annulment of the decree adopted on May 24. “The government's decision to accept the requests of Vuk Jeremic and approve him so much money for his stay in New York is disgraceful,” he told Belgrade daily Blic. “The country does not have enough money for the most vulnerable citizens, baby incubators are being purchased through charity actions,” the DS official and Belgrade mayor underlined, adding that he was not sure what the purpose of so many advisors was, adding that they would cost Serbia so much money. Djilas said that he presented his stance to the DS Presidency and the prime minister last Friday, calling for the annulment of the government's decree. “I expect that the government will approve Jeremic a similar amount to the one he was granted by the UN,” he concluded.
