Ahh the classic holier than thou Peggy, putting words into people's mouths once again, telling people what she thinks they think; and that it must be true because she has said it. You seem to think that because I advocate Kosovo's independence I automatically have to hate all Serbs.
==========================================

Oh Ian, I know you hate Serbs. Every post you have made on this site has ALWAYS been against the Serbs.
Your own words say so. Don't come here and pretend that I have put words in your mouth.
Give me one, just one example of any support you have given to the Serbs. Just one will do.
Like I said, every post of yours has been negative to the Serbs so it is you who is saying it not me.
Now that you can't reply to me with anything that will successfully argue against what I said, you come here attacking me for putting words in your mouth. You are so pathetic.

Yet again more lies. How about you name once when I have said something negative about the Serb nation? And not just individuals. I've NEVER said anything bad about Serbs as a whole. I have criticised the Serbian State politically but I have never said anything bad about the Serbian Nation aka the Serbian people. If you believe I have, please state one example. You're the one making accusations, back up what you've so boldly stated.

I only ever criticise individuals, I never judge an entire race based on the actions of an individual.

Back to another of your lies, when did I state or imply that it was a mistake for Jeremic to become UNGA President?

You know what your problem is, you assume far too much. And you jump to conclusions too.

LOL

I think Jeremic has done very well and Serbia is going to get all the benefits from this. This is acknowledgement money can't buy, unlike some.
Only one thing Jeremic needs to do is switch parties. He is too good for the ones he rubs shoulders with now.

Name one UNGA president in the last 10 years, and then try to find a benefit that his country got out of it. It is like the rotating presidency of the EU, do you think Cyprus is going to solve any of its problems in the next 6 months due to presidency?
The presidency of the GA is a honorary one which has one qualification and that is that they are from the region that is currently due for the office. The only significance that this time has for Serbia is that Serbia threw protocol out the window and decided at the last minute they wanted it instead of Lithuania who to that point was uncontested. Refusing any type of compromise forced a vote by the GA in which Serbia won by a very small margin. I would say that the flipping of coins was the deciding factor in a lot of votes.
And congratulations to Columbia for their position as UNSC presidency for the month of July.

I've always said that the best thing for Serbia to do is recognise the independence of Kosovo South of the Ibar river and ask for the Autonomy of the Serbian Orthodox Church in return. Are these the true words of a Serb hater Peggy love? Obviously not.

Lets look at this hypothetically, how will the tables of changed for Serbia 365 Days and and $7 Million USD less down the road? How will the situation on the ground be different? The only thing that will have changed is that a hand full more countries will recognise Kosovo.

I think that Jeremic becoming UNGA President is a mistake? When have I ever said or implied such a thing? I actually think it to be a very wise and smart move on a career politician like Jeremic's behalf. I actually believe Jeremic to be the most intelligent politician in the whole of Serbia. But to assume that Jeremic will be all powerful now he is UNGA President is incorrect and to assume that he will be Nikolic's and Dacic's servant in the UNGA is also incorrect. After the next set of General and Presidential elections in Serbia, Jeremic will most likely have Nikolic's or Dacic's job (most likely the Presidency). I'd put money on that!

OMG, The Albanians here are up in arms about this. It's so obvious they resent the fact that Jeremic has got this job and are trying to pick at anything in order to make it look like it's a bad thing, while all the time would give their teeth for one of their own to have it.

This money is NOTHING for a country. It's really petty cash. If Serbia cannot afford this then Serbia is doing worse than a third world country. Everyone knows that you need to invest money to get something in return.
Ian, don't pretend you care about Serbs and how this money could benefit the needy in Serbia. You don't give a damn about any needy Serbs. This money spent can benefit all Serbs. We are thinking long term. Yes, Serbia can invest this money in building another refugee camp (short term) but then what? We need to invest this money in areas like accessibility to the UN and the respect of the UN. Remember, Albanians used their money to buy delegates, PR machines and got some result. Why didn't they use that money to help their poor and needy in Kosovo instead? We all see where spending money for the good of the people differently is.
You Ian are scared that Jeremic will have a better result at this job than his previous one, so are desperately trying to tell us what a mistake it is. Best keep quiet. We know your type.

RE: The Vuk Factor-7Mil dollars-the best investment money can buy

Are you kidding me? It's and investment that will pay dividends, you dont' need to pay a public relations firm any money; you have Vuk at the UN assemply 365 days a year with top UN officials pushing Serbia's agenda; that is the best bang for your buck. I am surpised some unsuspecting reader has called you a Serbofile, nothing can be further from the truth.
(Jugoslavija, 4 July 2012 21:08)

Actually Jeremic has to be politically neutral and independent per the UN Charter, however I dare say he will try and abuse his role; that is if he has time with all the nattering and squabbling which will be going in the massive talkshop called the United Nations General Assembly.

Also what makes you think that a DS lad like Vuk will be pushing Serbia's agenda aka the Progressives-Socialist Coalition Agenda for? Surely it'd make more sense for him to push his own party's agenda. This whole £7 Million USD thing is down to the DS, not the Progressives or the Socialists. Vuk is still a young man in terms of politics, he could easily make DS leader when Tadic gets kicked of his high horse; then you never know Jeremic could be a future President or PM of Serbia. Career Politicians like Jeremic are always looking to the future, why do you think he went for UNGA Presidency in the first place? He knew he'd be loosing his FM job soon, he wants the money and it is something special to pop on his CV for the future.

Agim, don't hold your breath? You will not see the day that Thaci takes the floor at any UN assembly. The world knows who and what he is, a local drug lord, that the internationals supported because they had no alternative. Thaci's day are numbered, his use by date is not known yet, but he will have one, be assured. The West, especially the USA, uses local people of influence, be they clean or criminals, in localities of interest to advance their own agendas. Believe me, they are not in love with Albanians. As for Jeremic, he will have his office in NYC, as he should, and will work to advance the interests of the State of Serbia. This crap out of Belgrade's major is some kind of inter-party manipulation. A lot of the DS will loss their positions and influence now, so the political positioning has started. And after his duties @ the un, he can go to his real job washing dishes @ restaurant on East Side ...or maybe getting a job as a bouncer @ a night club...and that great pension he's going to get for the rest of his life...he can donate it to the orphans of serbia... Ian, you appear to a very thoughtful and caring Serb. I agree that spending all this money on housing Serbia's FM is a lot, and the money could be put to better use, but in reality it wouldn't be. If Djilas, and the rest of his comfortable partners in the DS want to economize and reduce government spending, why don't they look at themselves? How about starting with the automobiles they are driven around in? Do they all have to be luxury sedans? How about some Fiats from our new plant in Serbia? They could get around just as well in economy car, and it would say a lot about them. But that will not happen, it is easier to ridicule others. They are all the same kettle of fish.
(Ecoman, 4 July 2012 14:29)

But it isn't money on housing Serbia's FM (he won't be FM soon), it is housing money on the UNGA's President. This isn't Serbia's responsibility. It is down to the UNGA to fund all this and Jeremic will already be getting a hansome wage, exspenses and a massive budget too. Now he will be getting an extra $7 Million USD on top of what he already has, this money should be speant on Serbia not the UNGA.

So funny, so funny, you think for 7 million dollars you are going to purchase prime real estate in New York and then be able upgrade it the way you want then sell it for a profit later. Plus pay the administrative expenses to go along with it, as they said "so many advisors" who not only require pay but also housing transportation etc.
Better add a couple of 0's to that bud.
The office at the UN will be redone in 12 months without a trace that Serbia was ever there.

But the United Nations General Assembly President does nothing and has no power. Pretty much like the United Nations General Assembly itself.

If Belgrade wants to give him $7 Million USD to live in New York for a year, then by all means do that. But I can think of far better things to blow $7 Million USD on. Imagine how many hospitals and schools you could build in Serbia for that much?

Jeremic will already be getting a wage, budget and expenses from the United Nations General Assembly. He doesn't need an extra $7 Million USD.

This could in fact be Money that needs to be spent, because Serbia is a Member of the United Nations, and each Member Country makes Contributions to the running of the United Nations.

This is a good opportunity for Serbia to build the Office rooms of the President of the United Nations General Assembly, in such a way as to exert an influence on all those who visit those Office rooms, and this includes future Presidents of the United Nations General Assembly.

If this Office will not be at the United Nations building, then it can be sold at a Profit in the future.

I guess some of the Themes could be the United Nations Charter, the Territorial Integrity of Countries, and of course, the peaceful coexistence of the Nations.

I think that a committee should be set up to find the themes, and architects, designers, and academics should submit their suggestions and recommendations to the Government to make the Office one that befits the situation.

I hope that the Opposition said these things privately to the Government, but that they all know that they must chase Votes.

If this is done correctly, then Vuk Jeremic may be able to direct some Foreign Investments toward Serbia, and thus, this becomes Money that is Properly and Wisely invested to benefit Serbia.

Drop, what's with the ghetto talk? Are you trying to be cool? Anyway, the gangstas are in Pristina, Jeremic will be residing in NYC, close to his work at the UN, understand? The story is about cost of his offices, not about his personal life. So many out of the blue meaningless comments here, do you people have better things to do?

But the United Nations General Assembly President does nothing and has no power. Pretty much like the United Nations General Assembly itself.

If Belgrade wants to give him $7 Million USD to live in New York for a year, then by all means do that. But I can think of far better things to blow $7 Million USD on. Imagine how many hospitals and schools you could build in Serbia for that much?

Jeremic will already be getting a wage, budget and expenses from the United Nations General Assembly. He doesn't need an extra $7 Million USD.

The DS obviously think Jeremic is going to be King of the World for a year now because he is to be the President of the General Assembly and thus he needs $7 Million USD to live like a King. Such a waste of money for a small poor country like Serbia.

They are all the same kettle of fish.

ben, is that how Pristina's Albanians politicians operate? Not all are the same. I just get sour grapes from you Albanians here when anything has to do with Jeremic. You just dislike him because has been a thorn in Pristina's diplomacy, and I use the term loosely, and he will continue to be. Tell the truth, if Pristina had an Albanian in Jeremic's position at the UN, would you still be so critical? Do you see what I mean? In any case, Jeremic cannot just go to a petty cash box, and pull out 7$ million. The money must have been approved by the ruling government. I think there is more to this story, as there always is, and the money is not going to just creating a cool pad for Jeremic, trust me.

And I agree the DS should take a look at themselves, but then again all politicians try and be superstars rather than politicians. It is the typical "do as I say, not as I do" attitude of all politicians.

And after his duties @ the un, he can go to his real job washing dishes @ restaurant on East Side ...or maybe getting a job as a bouncer @ a night club...and that great pension he's going to get for the rest of his life...he can donate it to the orphans of serbia...

Politics is a whore, and has no friends, especially in Serbia.
