Opposition SNS party leader Tomislav Nikolic says that Serbia was trying to please the EU with the first ruling in the case of a murdered French football fan. He added that the second court decision, which halved sentences to the men convicted of Brice Taton’s murder, was "an expression of rage". Serbian justice system "fawning over EU" “When we have to enter the EU quickly we sentence them to 1,000 years, and when we have a fight with the EU we reduce their sentence by half,” Nikolic said at Serbian Economic Renewal Movement’s founding assembly on Friday. The SNS leader wondered how it was possible for two judges in the same justice system to think so differently and sentence the perpetrators to drastically different sentences. “Now, which judge is corrupt here, the one who sentenced them the first time or the one who reduced their sentence,” Nikolic pointed out. The Court of Appeals in Belgrade reduced the sentences to the men responsible for Taton’s murder on Thursday. Tomislav Nikolic Tanjug
