Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic says deployment of Kosovo customs officers at checkpoints without Belgrade’s approval represents a serious threat. He added that EULEX's actions in support of Pristina's policy represented a blatant violation of the status neutrality. Minister: Kosovo customs officers pose serious threat Bogdanovic told Tanjug on Thursday that certain people wonder whether the Serbian government had a strategy for September 16, and what this strategy implies. He explained that the government would keep doing what they had done so far, which was making an effort to prevent Pristina from making unilateral moves in northern Kosovo. The minister said that Serbian state officials were in everyday contact with the representatives of the international community, primarily KFOR and EULEX, pointing to the potential harm of Pristina's unilateral moves. According to him, Pristina's flaming rhetoric and announcement of unilateral moves are certainly not contributing to a peaceful solution to a problem and a constructive dialogue, but rather deteriorate the situation and create new tensions. “Without the approval of Belgrade and the Kosovo Serbs, the deployment of Kosovo customs officers and border police at Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings represents a considerable threat,” Bogdanovic underscored, adding that KFOR must remain at these crossings until an agreement is reached. “Belgrade's position regarding EULEX remains the same as it was in late July,” stressed the minister. “Any action of EULEX in support of Pristina's policy represents a blatant violation of the status neutrality, and it would have consequences to our relations, particularly if one takes into account that EULEX took Pristina's side on several occasions,” Bogdanovic said. “EULEX's presence and jurisdiction can only be the same as they were before July 26,” he added. “We have nothing against EULEX's presence at the administrative crossings, and their control of the flow of goods, passengers, etc. However, we cannot allow and cannot accept that EULEX takes Pristina's side and perform logistics so that the Kosovo customs and border police could operate and gain profit,” Bogdanovic concluded.
