100 delegations to attend Non-Aligned conference

The Non-Aligned Movement will mark the 50th anniversary of the holding of its first summit on September 5 and 6 in Belgrade.

The Non-Aligned Movement will mark the 50th anniversary of the holding of its first summit on September 5 and 6 in Belgrade. One hundred delegations have so far confirmed their participation. 100 delegations to attend Non-Aligned conference Budimir Loncar, a former Yugoslav foreign minister, will be the special guest, Tanjug was told by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among the participants will be the representatives of the former Yugoslav republics - Slovenia's and Montenegro's Foreign Ministers Samuel Zbogar and Milan Rocen, State Secretary of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mario Nobilo, and Deputy Foreign Minister of Macedonia Zoran Petrov. Europe will be represented by Hungary, Finland, Spain and Cyprus - which, along with Yugoslavia, was the only European country that had taken part in the first Non-Aligned Summit in Belgrade in 1961. At this year's two-day gathering the first day will mark the 50th anniversary since the first summit, after which the participants will be addressed by Serbian President Boris Tadic at the Serbian parliament building. On the second day, two panels will be held at the Palace of Serbia, and the first will be opened by Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. At the same time, the Chambers of Commerce of Serbia and Belgrade, the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) and 15 leading companies in the country will present the potentials of Serbia and the possibilities for cooperation with the Non Aligned Movement member-states. The Non-Aligned Movement today has 118 countries as full member-states. This number represents about two-thirds of UN member-states. The movement also has 20 countries who hold the status of observers, including Serbia.
