Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz said that the UN will develop a mechanism for enabling trials after the Tribunal has stopped functioning. He said that if Hague fugitive Ratko Mladic is not arrested by the time the Hague Tribunal closes down, the UN will develop mechanisms for enabling a trial before the international court against the suspected war criminal. Brammertz: Mladic must be punished Brammertz said in to the internet edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that the group of people supporting and aiding the Hague fugitive is not the same group that was helping Radovan Karadzic hide. If Mladic is arrested soon, Brammertz said that there is a possibility that his trial could be joined with Karadzic’s ongoing process. Brammertz also said that he “maintains optimism that Mladic will be arrested before the Tribunal closes its doors.” Serge Brammertz (FoNet archive)
