Slovenia has decided to set aside EUR 30,000 for the fund for the establishment of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF).

Slovenia has decided to set aside EUR 30,000 for the fund for the establishment of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF). Slovenia will give the money to the NATO fund created to offer support to the KSF and which focuses on securing the necessary infrastructure and communication links. Slovenia sets aside EUR 30,000 for KSF fund The goal of the fund is to form a professional, lightly-armed force to include a 10 percent minority contingent within the total 2,500 KSF regulars and 800 reserves. According to the Slovenian government, the process of forming the KSF started on September 15 with the selection of candidates, and continued with training of instructors and seminars for future KSF officers. The KSF is expected to be complete by September 2009, when it will become operative. Slovenia stated that it is becoming more active in forming NATO policy towards the Western Balkans, which is why it also has a large presence in KFOR units. This is why it is important for Slovenia to actively cooperate in the current fund for creating the KSF.
