"At the same time, we have already entered CEFTA, while they are still outside the EU,” he said.

Parivodić added it would therefore make sense for Croatia to “lower the duty on cigarettes imported from the CEFTA countries, at least so that it could reach the level applied to the same product imported from the EU.”

The Serbian Government’s Action Plan, set to be implemented as of January next year, is aimed at providing equal conditions for all domestic tobacco producers. Owners of tobacco plants in Serbia say such plan encourages them to continue investing in the country.
