“Drug lord Šarić can be arrested by June”

Police can arrest suspected drug lord Darko Šarić by the end of June, says new Counter-Organized Crime Service (SBPOK) Chief Slaviša Sovtić.

BELGRADE Police can arrest suspected drug lord Darko Saric by the end of June, says new Counter-Organized Crime Service (SBPOK) Chief Slavisa Sovtic. He also announced operations aimed at proving that the state was more powerful than the mafia. “Drug lord Saric can be arrested by June” Sovtic told daily Blic that the police did not like to set any deadlines but stressed he was sure that Saric could be arrested in the first half of the year, just like First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic had announced. He stressed that as a new SBPOK chief he would focus on operational work. “SBPOK is the most important segment of combat against organized crime and corruption and I can promise even more energetic operations in the following period so the state would show it is more powerful than any mafia,” Sovtic was quoted as saying. When asked which operation had been the most difficult, he said that it was in the beginning of the 2000 when the police broke up the Zemun gang and revealed Saric’s group. Beta Blic Tanjug

“Drug lord Šarić can be arrested by June”

Sovtić told daily Blic that the police did not like to set any deadlines but stressed he was sure that Šarić could be arrested in the first half of the year, just like First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić had announced.

He stressed that as a new SBPOK chief he would focus on operational work.

“SBPOK is the most important segment of combat against organized crime and corruption and I can promise even more energetic operations in the following period so the state would show it is more powerful than any mafia,” Sovtić was quoted as saying.

When asked which operation had been the most difficult, he said that it was in the beginning of the 2000 when the police broke up the Zemun gang and revealed Šarić’s group.
