Despite government promises that 40 percent of gas charges could be paid in installments, customers have received gas bills which have to be paid immediately. The Mining and Energy Ministry stated that customers who had paid these bills in full would be reimbursed. Srbijagas reneging on gas bill deal? The government reached an agreement in early October with Srbijagas confirming the 60 percent gas price increase, but reached an agreement with the company allowing households to pay gas bills in two separate installments. Under the deal, 62.5 percent of the gas bill would be paid immediately, while payment of the remainder could be postponed for six months. According to B92’s sources, gas distributors, who supply gas to the end-user in Serbia, were unable to implement this agreement because Srbijagas did not follow through on the government’s recommendations, and sent bills requiring one-off payment.
