Serbian-U.S. telecommunications and IT company Konsing has opened new premises in Belgrade, creating 150 new jobs. Over USD 10mn has been invested in the building, USD 7mn of which came from direct U.S. investment. U.S. firm to create 150 new jobs in Serbia U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter, who was present at the opening, said that Serbia now had a future. Konsing has been trading as a joint U.S.-Serbian concern in Serbia and the region for the last five years. CEO Zdenko Lekan said that this was just the beginning, and that serious investments in Serbia should be expected. "Millions of dollars are waiting to be invested in Serbia after the new government is formed. At the Vienna Conference in October, foreign businessmen will also decide on further investment in Serbia and Kosovo,” said Lekan. The U.S. ambassador said that these companies were the key to success. He said the U.S. believed in Serbia and its prosperity, and that investors were ready to plough more money into the economy. "We are very optimistic that this investment will represent a trend that will help increase the number of investments in economic terms, and help build up Serbia to become part of Europe and the global economy. I believe that everybody is doing their best to reform the state first, and form a pro-European government, and to create a stable business environment that will bring this country the prosperity it deserves, and show it in its true light,” Munter said. Everyone present agreed that Serbia should have a pro-European government that would lead the country towards the EU, and create possibilities for further investment, which, in turn, would lead to new jobs and economic stability.
