The new budget will set aside RSD 2.2bn (EUR 27.5mn) for improving the lives of Kosovo Serbs, Dragan Djilas said. He said that this figure was 100 times the amount allocated in previous years. The Minister without Portfolio told daily Novosti the financing of infrastructure, schooling, health and cultural projects would be strictly controlled, and approved ahead of time. State funds set aside for Kosovo “Most projects will be implemented in Serbian enclaves south of the Ibar, bearing in mind that most funds have until now gone to northern Kosovo, so we have to be realistic and recognize that living conditions are a lot better there than in the enclaves,” Djilas said. Djilas, who is responsible for the National Investment Plan, said that there was also a plan for building an agricultural powerhouse, where farmers could register and get licenses for work easier, enabling them to get their products to the Serbian market as well. There are preparations for construction in Velika Hoca and Orahovac, as well as in Sirinicka Zupa, where tourism capacities need to be worked on. Asked whether he believed that Kosovo would remain a part of Serbia, Djilas said that it was important to fight for creating working and schooling conditions for Serbs so that “the Serbs who remain in Kosovo have everything they need to get by.”
