German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said that the consultations on forwarding Serbia's EU candidacy application to the European Commission should start. Westerwelle stated that the adoption of the Serbia-EU Kosovo resolution on Thursday has created a good foundation for the start of these consultations. He stressed that Berlin is satisfied with the fact that the UN General Assembly adopted joint resolution. This is also proof of the success of the EU’s diplomacy, achieved by drafting a resolution together with Serbia, which was then adopted by UN, Westerwelle said. The German minister noted that this allows the start of direct talks between Belgrade and Pristina and the consultations on forwarding Serbia's EU candidacy application.
