A man serving time in Montenegro's Spuz Prison near Podgorica died last night in his cell after a lethal heroin overdose. The prisoner was identified as 26-year-old Alen Harovic, a Podgorica native. Montenegro: Prisoner dies of overdose According to the local Vijesti TV, Harovic was serving his sentence in the semi-open wing of the jail. Judge Radomir Ivanovic, who was assigned to the case, told reporters that the victim died of the heroin "which he himself administered to his body". Another prisoner, who shared Harovic's cell, identified as Dragan Mihailovic, also overdosed on drugs and in a critical condition, with doctors at Podgorica's Clinical Center fighting to save his life, it was reported this Friday. Judge Ivanovic stated that it is still unknown how the drugs were smuggled into the prison.

According to the local Vijesti TV, Harović was serving his sentence in the semi-open wing of the jail.
