Wilhelm told a press conference on Sunday that this assistance is not non-refundable, but mostly consists of loans the Serbian government will have to pay back.

He added that Germany began to provide financial assistance to Serbia's development projects after October 5, 2000, in the context of accession to the EU.

Thanks to that, he said, people in many local governments got drinking water and many projects related to water supply and waste water have been implemented.

Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-government Kori Udovicki stated that, in addition to developing infrastructure, Germany also helped by transferring a number of skills and knowledge.

She pointed out that Serbia also finds important cooperation in the public administration reform and still needs German assistance.
