PRISTINA The two million dollars which Russia allocated for the restoration of Serb Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo have been transferred to the contractors. This was confirmed by an employee of the regional UNESCO office for the Itar-Tass news agency. Russia allocates funds for repair of Serb holy places He said that restoration works had started in the monasteries of Pec, Visoki Decani and Gracanica. The Church of Our Lady Leviska near Prizren, which was the worst hit in the anti-Serb pogrom launched by ethnic Albanians in the March of 2004, is also being renovated. The Russian funds will be spent on the repairs of facades and restoration of frescoes. The contractors include two Italian and one Serbian company that won a bidding last year.
