BELGRADE 151 children died and 9,044 were injured in car accidents in Serbia in the last five years, the Traffic Safety Agency has announced. Traffic Safety Agency Director Stojadin Jovanovic told a press conference dedicated to a children traffic safety campaign that will start in all Serbian schools in September, that nine children had been killed in traffic accidents in the first seven months of 2011. 151 children died in traffic accidents in last five years He pointed out that the largest number of children died as passengers (44 percent) and pedestrians (41 percent), while about 14 percent of children died while riding their bicycles. According to the Traffic Safety Agency’s data, more than 21,000 people died in car accidents in the last 20 years in Serbia.
