Serb Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic has accused Serbian President Boris Tadic of being “a man of the past“. He added that Tadic was “showing that with each day he is more Democratic Party (DS) leader and less leader of all Serbian citizens”. Opposition SNS says Tadic is “man of past“ The SNS deputy leader has assessed that the president was trying to intimidate citizens into trusting him by accusing opposition, because he is afraid that he could lose his position but still wants to keep the privileges the DS has. Vucic has called the DS a “privileged class”. He has condemned Tadic’s statement that the SNS basically is not a pro-European party and that, when asked whether he is ready to accept a government without the DS in it, he said “God forbid this should happen”. “The fact that he is calling on god to help him beat the SNS shows how scared Boris Tadic is and how much he is worried about his associates who have robbed Serbia, destroyed and ruined it in the privatization process and monopoly privileges,” the SNS deputy leader told reporters. He has rejected accusations that the SNS is not a pro-European party and added that it wants to lead Serbia into the EU but also to improve the situation in the economy and citizens’ standard. Vucic accused Tadic of controlling almost all Serbian media and that therefore nobody dared to say that there had been a drastic drop in production in the last several months. He asked the Serbian president how he was planning on preventing the opposition from winning the elections and “promised” that the DS would be able to work freely, criticize and promote its program if the SNS came to power. The SNS deputy leader stressed once again that his party requested early parliamentary elections because that was the only answer to growing economical and political crisis, crime and corruption.
