City of Belgrade to take out loans in 2010

The Belgrade City Assembly on Monday decided to take out loans to finance investment projects in Serbia's capital city. The city is set to borrow RSD 5bn (EUR 54.7mn) local business banks, in order to continue work on the capital projects in 2010. City of Belgrade to take out loans in 2010 The Belgrade City Assembly also adopted the information on the construction of the bridge across the Danube, connecting the municipalities of Zemun and Borca, which will require around EUR 170mn. Commenting on the decision to take out loans, Deputy Finance Secretary Radomir Kostadinovic pointed out that the city authorities were forced to make this move, because the transfer of funds from Serbia's state budget has been reduced by RSD 5-6bn. He noted that postponing the projects that have already started would cost the city more than taking out bank loans.
