Milosevic is suspected of misusing his position in the case of Miladin Kovacevic, a Serbian studying in the United States, to whom he issues a passport even though the original document was confiscated by the U.S. government after Kovacevic was arrested on assault charges. With the new passport, Kovacevic was able to jump bail flee the U.S. for Serbia. Milosevic claims that the Serbian general consulat in New York, Slobodan Nenadovic, gave him the go-ahead to issue the new passport – something Nenadovic denies. Kovacevic is accused of brutally assaulting a fellow student at Binghamton University in New York State. He was arrested after the fight in which he put fellow student Bryan Steinhauer in a coma, but was release once bail of USD 100,000 was posted for him. The Serbian prosecution is analyzing the case to see whether it will press charges against him, since it is against Serbian law to extradite Serbian nationals to other countries. Kovacevic has an international warrant out for his arrest since fleeing America illegally.
