EULEX chief Yves de Kermabon says he is ready to reach agreement on technical cooperation with the Serbian authorities. He told local Radio Gorazdevac in Kosovo that the Serbian side has "two reasons" why it finds it hard to accept EULEX. "EULEX ready for technical cooperation" "The first is that there are many misunderstandings and unclear issues. People are not acquainted with what EULEX in fact is, in terms of the legal basis." "The second is political, as well as reasons such as organized crime, and because the mission is denigrated by the Serb community, especially in the north of Kosovo," the French official was quoted as saying. Still, he says the EU mission in Kosovo is ready to strike a technical cooperation deal with the government in Belgrade. "I think cooperation must exist. I wish I could speak to Minister for Kosovo [Goran] Bogdanovic, but only on a technical level, with the Serb institutions, so that we could establish cooperation," Kermabon said. Both previous and current government in Belgrade have rejected the deployment of EULEX in the province as illegal unless it comes with a UN Security Council approval.
