Serbs in northern Kosovo are not leavening Kosovo police, KPS, a commander was quoted. Albanian-language daily Koha Ditore writes today that KPS Kosovska Mitrovica station commander Milija Milosevic rejected speculation by some media that Serb members are leaving. Pristina daily: Serbs not leaving KPS "It's business as usual and we are in Kosovo police uniforms. Rumors that we will leave, are not true," Milosevic was quoted by the paper. He also said that the Serbs had the right to peaceful protests, and that if they "turned into something else, police would intervene". "We are the only station under UNMIK jurisdiction in the north and we will continue to do our job because the transition is not over," Milosevic said, and rejected reports that KPS in there did not receive orders from the Pristina command, the daily said. Reuters yesterday quoted KPS sources who said Serb policemen in three northern municipalities had ceased to take orders from the province's capital, and are answering to their Kosovska Mitrovica chief, who is coordinating with UN and NATO forces. A KPS spokesman in the region said this was "quite normal, and not worrying". Koha Ditore also said not a single Albanian policeman was now working in the north since the riots at two administrative line posts earlier this week. Although KPS is present at the administrative boundary, along with UNMIK police and KFOR, all the officers wearing its uniforms are Serbs.
