Medical students in K.Mitrovica have been unable to use the library or dentist facilities for several days now. They cannot enter the facilities because there is a lot of debris and sand blocking the entrances. The material was put there because of an alleged debt that the Medical Faculty owes a construction company that equipped the facilities two years ago. Contractual row blocks K. Mitrovica faculty The faculty dean claims that the construction company has no documentation on which to base its claims. The Medical Faculty in Pristina, which is run by the Serbian state, was moved to Kosovska Mitrovica five years ago. The faculty received facilities of 500 square meters for temporary use from Kosovska Mitrovica Health Center. The health center concluded a contract with MAB Kompanija Miljkovic to equip some of the health center buildings and the 500 square meters given to the school where the library and dentistry facilities are now situated. Then Dean Zdravko Vitosevic allegedly accepted a deal to pay the company its expenses of RSD 11mn (about EUR 15,000). However, current Dean Nebojsa Mitic, who contacted B92 regarding the problem, said that the school would not pay anything until documentation concerning the deal was produced. “We called Kompanija Miljkovic to see, to try and reach an agreement in some way, to form a commission to confirm this. These jobs were carried out. A realistic price has to be confirmed and we must find a way to do this,” Mitic said. “However, he has turned a deaf ear, and one day he brought all his machines here and blocked the building, so there is still a blockade there. The machines are no longer there, but he dropped two-three tons of sand and what-not, and blocked the entrance of the building so that no one can go in,” Mitic complained. Kompanija Miljkovic stated that after two years of waiting, they would block the building until they were paid. Company CEO Milovan Miljkovic said that he had met with the dean on many occasions, and that it was unfair that the current dean was not willing to pay what the last dean had agreed to. “Kompanija Miljkovic did the work two full years ago and we still have not received a positive answer on our insistence to be paid the remainder of what we’re owed for the construction work we did,” Miljkovic explained. “We have decided not to move our machines until the day all debts owed to Kompanija Miljkovic are paid,” he said. The Health Center said that it had given the facilities to the university for free, and that it had nothing to do with them any more. With exam time coming, it is still not clear whether any facilities will be available for the exams to be held in.
