ATHENS Greece has been hit by news blackout as the country's journalists go out on strike to protest new austerity measures. The 24-hour walkout means there will be no radio or TV news programs on Monday, while newspapers will not be printed on Tuesday, AP has reported. On Wednesday, most services across Greece will come to a standstill, as the country's two biggest labor unions stage a general strike against the EUR 11.5bn cutbacks, AP points out. The nationwide strike is expected to close schools, disrupt hospital services and stop trains and ferries. Debt-crippled Greece must pass the new cutbacks to continue receiving the rescue loan payments that have kept it afloat since 2010.
