Macedonia has decided to join sanctions imposed by the European Union against Libya. In this way, Skopje said it was contributing to efforts of the EU and a wider international public for an urgent end to violence in the north African country. Macedonia introduces sanctions against Libya Macedonia is also contributing toward the efforts for legitimate demands of the residents of Libya to be fulfilled, said its foreign ministry. A statement posted on the ministry's website stressed that implementing restrictive measures of the UN was an international obligation, while joining restrictive measures imposed by the EU was "part of foreign policy and part of the process of joining the EU".
