IBARSKI KOLASIN Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo Director Aleksandar Vulin says the agreement according to which customs duty and taxes are not paid must be respected. He added that it had been agreed that customs duties and taxes would not be paid for non-excise goods intended for northern Kosovo at the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings. Agreements need to be respected, official says “The agreement on nonpayment of customs duty was reached by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci and it needs to be implemented. And if this does not happen, then there will be no implementation of the agreement on the integrated crossings management. It will be so until expert groups complete their work,” Vulin explained. He announced that Dacic and Thaci would discuss further implementation of the agreement on January 17 in Brussels and “things need to function as agreed until then”. The Office for Kosovo director noted that Jarinje and Brnjak were not border but administrative crossings, adding that there had been numerous violations and abuses of the agreement there. He also stressed that Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic would soon discuss a draft platform for Kosovo with representatives of Kosovo Serbs. “We do not differentiate between Serbs south and north of the Ibar River. They are citizens of the state of Serbia to us and everybody who lives in Kosovo and Metohija are completely equal to us,” Vulin said during his visit to Kosovo on Wednesday.
