President says attacks in Kosovo are provocation

Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolić has stated that attacks on Serbian civilians in Kosovo were unacceptable and that they represent an open provocation.

Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic has stated that attacks on Serbian civilians in Kosovo were unacceptable and that they represent an open provocation. He especially pointed to the attacks on Serbs who went to a celebration of St. Vitus Day in Gazimestan on Thursday. President says attacks in Kosovo are provocation The president strongly condemned the attacks on the Serbian civilians and stressed that the responsibility for them was solely Pristina’s, adding that such violation of human rights certainly did not contribute to stability in the region. Nikolic hopes that the international organizations that are present in Kosovo will in the future perform their duties in accordance with their mandate which was approved by Serbia as well and secure safety in the southern province and protect the rights of all citizens, it is said in a statement issued by the president’s office. 20 Serbs were injured in a clash with Kosovo police at the Merdare administrative crossing yesterday.
