The Bajrakli mosque in central Belgrade has still to be restored five years after it was set alight during demonstrations against the violence in Kosovo. The mosque suffered severe damage on the night of March 17/18 during rioting that broke out after the attacks on Serbs in Kosovo. Only one person has ever been charged with the attack, while 22 people are under investigation. Belgrade First District Court spokesman Miodrag Majic said that charges had been brought against Stefan Gajic, who is accused of participating in mob violence. Majic added that a main hearing had yet to be scheduled. Investigative proceedings are under way against the other 22 suspects on similar charges, and the judge will decide whether to press charges once the investigation is complete.
