SRS deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic says Boris Tadic’s statement that Serbia will sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) is a marketing trick. Nikolic added that it was up to parliament to decide whether to sign that agreement. Nikolic dismisses EU deal signature talk "That is a marketing and campaign trick, but Tadic cannot fool Serbia's citizens," Nikolic told Tanjug, adding that it would be better for the president to wait for the elections, and that after the elections Serbia's citizens would agree in parliament how to deal with the European Union and other international organizations. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) leader pointed out that "Tadic knows fine well who runs foreign policy, and that he also knows fine well that it has to be ratified by parliament, which means that all this can wait." “That statement is interesting because it suggests that the Democratic Party (DS) could privatize Serbia’s relations with the EU as its own, and go on its own adventure to sign agreements with international organizations,” he pointed out, stressing that parliament, which “alone knows what’s good for the people,” had to give its opinion on the SAA. Nikolic said that by making such statements, Tadic “is showing his true self and the essence of his involvement in politics, and his victory at the presidential elections,” saying that the EU needed “such a man.” The SRS deputy leader said that his party would speak to the EU, would even speak about agreements, but that one thing had to be made clear—whether or not the EU viewed Kosovo as a part of Serbia or not.
