The Democratic Party (DS) has accused a leading Serb Radical Party (SRS) official of refusing to testify in the Ramush Haradinaj war crimes trial. The DS states that retired General and SRS official Bozidar Delic refused to testify at the trial of the former Kosovo Liberation Army leader at the Hague Tribunal, though Delic denies that he was ever asked to take the stand. DS: SRS official helped Haradinaj acquittal The DS claims that by refusing to testify, Delic aided Haradinaj’s acquittal and subsequent release. “That is the best example of the false and hypocritical patriotism of the Radicals, who are only interested in votes based on chest-thumping and talk of Serbdom. Delic didn’t dare appear at the Hague and help uncover the truth about Haradinaj’s crimes, but he had no problem sending tanks on Serbian citizens during demonstrations,” the Democrats state. The DS claims that in so doing, Delic showed how much he valued the interests of Serbia and Kosovo, at a time when state institutions were fighting to appeal against Haradinaj’s acquittal, and uncover the truth about the fate of Serb victims. “This is just another reminder of the Radicals’ disastrous national policy, where they pop up everywhere where Serbdom is being defended, and then leave Serbs out to dry later,” the Democrats state. Delic has denied the accusations, claiming that he was never called on to testify against Haradinaj. “Just let them show the document that shows that I was summoned to testify and that I refused,” countered the retired general. He said that the Haradinaj trial would have turned out differently had Serbian institutions sent those documents to the Hague Tribunal that incriminated Haradinaj. Delic said that he was prepared to answer to any summons from the Hague Tribunal, and reiterated that he had spent 96 days at The Hague himself as a witness.
