"Restitution bill will be drafted soon"

Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic met in Belgrade on Tuesday with representatives of the League for the Protection of Private Property and Human Rights in Serbia. After the meeting his office announced that a bill on restitution of property would soon be drafted. "Restitution bill will be drafted soon" The property in question was seized from owners by the communist Yugoslav authorities after the Second World War. Djelic said that the process would be open for public discussion and consultation and that the bill should be drafted before the summer recess of the Serbian parliament. He said the document should be submitted to the government in September and then forwarded to the parliament for consideration, his office said. During the meeting, the League's President Dragana Milovanovic informed Djelic about the previous activities of the organization, and presented its views and suggestions for solving the problem of restitution in the country. The aim of this and future meetings that Djelic will have with interested parties is reaching a commonly acceptable solution through joint efforts, the statement added.
