Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said that he is content with the work of his ministers and that there will be no reconstruction of the government. “I am evaluating the work of the ministers based on the level in which they achieved the basic goals of the government, and I can say that the government is successful, because progress has definitely been made, firstly in European integrations, which will be cemented in history,” said Cvetkovic. PM "content with work of ministers" However, the premier noted that there are "sectors" about which he is not satisfied, but that this is "not because someone did a bad job, but because there were no financial possibilities for doing more". “It would have been better if more was done to protect the most impoverished people and if the government had more money, it could have minimized the negative effects of the economic crisis by investing more in the industry, like other, richer countries did,” Cvetkovic said. He added that the government had limited funds in 2009 which it spent in an "utterly appropriate manner”. Cvetkovic expects that Serbia will receive candidate status for EU membership in 2010. “I cannot promise that and it is not good to set deadlines, but I promise that the government will be dedicated to this goal, because it has shown that dedication always gives results,” Cvetkovic said. He said that the priority in EU integration will be speeding up reforms in the legislature, public sector, public systems and military. Commenting the efforts of the government in the process before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Kosovo's status, he said that the government has the capacities to keep this process and the process of European integration separate, and to be successful in both. “In the recent period we have showed that we can work parallel and successfully on several important goals, such as achieving the visa-free regime and EU integration while building good relations with the most important countries of the world, while remaining a factor of stability in the region,” Cvetkovic said.
