Eight candidates for Gračanica municipal chief

Eight candidates are standing in the November elections for the position of municipal president in the newly-formed municipality of Gračanica.

Eight candidates are standing in the November elections for the position of municipal president in the newly-formed municipality of Gracanica. Five of the candidates work in Serb institutions, two in the Kosovo institutions, and one is the owner of an agricultural company. Eight candidates for Gracanica municipal chief The November 15 elections are being organized by the government in Pristina. Zoran Mitrovic, who was elected as an assembly member in Lipljan on the Serb Radical Party’s list in the May 11 elections organized by Belgrade, will also stand in the November polls. Mitrovic works in Lipljan hospital. Asked about his decision to stand, fellow Radical official in Lipljan Suzana Stankovic said, “I can’t believe it.” Two other candidates, Nada Brkljac and Nebojsa Peric, are employed by the Pristina city assembly. Milivoje Radulovic works for Jugopetrol, Jelena Talic is an employee at Laplje Selo hospital and Momcilo Trajkovic is a farming company director. The last two candidates, Bojan Stojanovic and Slobodan Vujicic, work in the Kosovo institutions. Kosovo Serb National Council senior official Rada Trajkovic was also expected to run, but backed out at the last minute. She said that she had held talks with EU Special Representative Pieter Feith regarding her candidacy. “Our list did not register because the condition of land demarcation and defining new municipal borders was not met,” Trajkovic said. The Kosovo local elections will be held on November 15 in 36 of the 38 municipalities, while elections will be held at a later date in the municipalities of northern Kosovska Mitrovica and Partes. The other Serb municipalities will be Ranilug, Klotkot-Vrbocac and an enlarged Novo Brdo. There are no Albanians on the list of candidates for Gracanica.

The November 15 elections are being organized by the government in Priština.

Zoran Mitrović, who was elected as an assembly member in Lipljan on the Serb Radical Party’s list in the May 11 elections organized by Belgrade, will also stand in the November polls.

Asked about his decision to stand, fellow Radical official in Lipljan Suzana Stanković said, “I can’t believe it.”
