Today is International Day of the Disappeared, marked in Serbia. Almost a decade after the end of the wars in the former Yugoslavia, almost 17,000 people are still listed as missing. International Day of Disappeared marked Today their families will ask the state authorities to build a monument in Belgrade to people that disappeared during the wars. International organizations, as well as the families of missing persons, warn that the process of locating and identifying their loved ones is progressing slowly. On the eve of the Day of the Disappeared, President Boris Tadic said that all the countries in the region that aspire to EU membership should tackle the issue of missing persons. Today their families will ask the state authorities to build a monument in Belgrade to people that disappeared during the wars.

International organizations, as well as the families of missing persons, warn that the process of locating and identifying their loved ones is progressing slowly.
