Solana satisfied with Belgrade visit

Today Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, discussed his impressions of the Belgrade meetings with ambassadors and representatives to Brussels from EU member countries.

The EU does not oppose a short delay in the Vienna talks in order to give Belgrade time to assemble the new Parliament and give authorization to the delegation representing Serbia in the upcoming negotiations on the Kosovo status.

As Beta learned from high EU officials, Solana is content with the outcome of the meetings with Serbian leaders who showed determination to engage in the Kosovo status talks.

Solana told the EU ambassadors that Serbia now knows that the negotiations with the EU may soon be resumed if the new Serbian authorities show an undivided determination to achieve full co-operation with The Hague.
